Proposal G of 1996 was a Michigan ballot initiative that established a framework for wildlife management based on scientific principles. Approved by voters, it limited the ability of the legislature to directly regulate wildlife issues such as hunting seasons and species management, assigning those decisions to the Michigan Natural Resources Commission.

Proposal G amended Michigan law to require that the Natural Resources Commission make decisions on the taking of game species based on principles of sound science. It also mandated public involvement and transparency in decision-making.
